Within days of Nic returning, another girl goes missing.
Told backwards—Day 15 to Day 1— Nic works to unravel the truth about her younger neighbor’s disappearance, revealing shocking truths about her friends, her family, and what really happened to Corinne that night ten years ago.
Review: This was not an easy book to read. As I sat there after having turned the last page, I didn’t know what to think, my feelings were all a mess. About the characters, about the twisted storyline. But God, I loved every minute of it.
Let’s start with the main character, Nic. I remember texting my fellow blogger, “Omg I hate her! She’s not a good person!” But only because I didn’t understand her. I began to understand why she did whatever she did at the very end. I began to understand the lengths people would go to protect their loved ones. Lie, cheat or steal.
Now, the dialogue and the storyline. The book, in general, was very easy to read if you read it in a few sittings instead of one go, maybe because of the backward timeline, that indeed had me messing up the events. I literally had to draw mind webs of all the characters to keep up with everything.
(This is why it took me this long to finish it you guys.)
Regardless of that, this book had me shuddering, holding my breath till I turned the page, and actually gasping out loud and getting weird looks from the people around me at that time. This is NOT a book you should be missing out on. And I’ll be making sure I get more books of this author!
